"The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?"
- Psalm 27:1
About Maundy
A Native of Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, Maundy is the 1st of four children of a loving couple Basil & Fely (both principled educators). He was raised by lola Marina, whom he called Nanang Marin.
As a child, he used to build miniature houses made of twigs & dried mud. This hobby would later lead him into becoming an architect.
As a student, Maundy was active in extra-curricular activities such as CAT/ROTC officership, Socio-civic works, student politics & journalism, and course-related activities. God was always good to him and rewarded his hard work with a recognition of being One of the 14 Most Outstanding College Students of Manila in 1991.
As an employee, Maundy developed a sense of loyalty, and the principle of putting Honor and Dignity over and above self-interest. He would prefer living a simple life rather than entertaining the idea of cheating and corruption.
After college, he worked in Angel M. dela Cruz and Associates (AMCA) in Makati as a draftsman. Again God made His presence felt when he allowed him to rise from the ranks until he became the Administrative Assistant of the Principal Architect Angel dela Cruz in a matter of just one week. There he gained much managerial experience and design techniques as well as being responsible and professional. After passing the board examination in 1995, AMCA made him an Associate Architect.
Being a son of educators, Maundy will then feel the passion for teaching. After a few years of practice, he entered the academe as an architecture instructor in EARIST and in Adamson University. Even in these times, God would always show His love to Maundy when He blessed him with several challenging positions including his being a College Dean and a member of the highest governing board of the school... the EARIST Board of Trustees, at the age of 29. God later rewarded his hard work with several awards in teaching, research, service functions, and an Institutional award of Merit as Outstanding Employee of 2001.
Of all the gifts that this proud Bigueño received from God, he is most thankful for having a loving wife (Adel), a cute son (Gabriel), and a closely-tied Clan. Maundy is gifted with a very tightly bonded relatives. His cousins and him treat each other like brothers and sisters. Their aunts and uncles, whom they call 'Mama' and 'Papa' treats them like their own children. They meet every Christmas day in Vigan City for a yearly reunion to reaffirm their loyalty to their family.
Maundy believes that "...the measure of one's success is happiness...". No matter how rich, famous, or powerful a person may become, if he does not find happiness, he has not found success. However, even the poorest of the poor, who finds happiness in the very limited things that he owns, may just be luckier and more successful that most of us.
